This site is run by Britt Permien, trading as Britt Permien Media, in Canada. I collect very little, I use no tracking or advertising tools, and I never sell or share your details.
What I collect
- Contact form. Your name, email and message, so I can reply. I delete messages 12 months after we last talked.
- Newsletter. Your email address, plus the date and IP address of your sign-up, which MailPoet records automatically. Newsletters are sent through MailPoet. You stay on the list until you unsubscribe, and every email has an unsubscribe link.
- One small cookie. If you close the sign-up pop-up, a cookie remembers that so it doesn’t keep reappearing.
Who handles it
My website host, Hostinger, and Cloudflare, which keeps the site fast and secure, process site traffic for me. Nobody else receives your information.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete what I hold about you, or withdraw your consent at any time. If you are in the EU or UK, you also have your GDPR rights, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Who to ask
I’m the person responsible for privacy here, and I handle access requests and complaints. Send them through the contact page and I’ll reply within 30 days. If we can’t sort it out, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
How long we retain your data
Suggested text: If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
Suggested text: If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
Suggested text: Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
